Hello from an old timer...
« on: July 19, 2022, 07:37:31 PM »
Hey, All!

I was thinking today about the fun I had with LinuxBC and then MBC 'back in the day', and was wondering where you lot had gone off to!

A quick web search lead me here.  :)

It's good to see that you're still giving BCX the attention that it deserves!

Armando - you computer coding guru!  Glad to see you lurking in our haunts again.

Jeff Shollenberger, Robert Wishlaw, and I resurrected BCX in late 2019, as Yahoo was turning off the lights.

Lots of the old timer still pop in from time to time.  A couple weeks ago, I got a msg from Don Baldwin (GSAC3)
who still tinkers with BCX.  He just turned 89!  What a beast!  Mike Henning and Ad Rienks are a couple of our
recent BCX returners.  Dinosaurs love company, it seems.   :)

I hope you stick around!

Así, Armando, bienvenido de nuevo al programa.

I have seeking ways to get in touch with you.

I have been considering resurrecting MBC with another name on Github and wanted to get your permission before I did that. Would that be okay with you ?

I have been adding UTF-8 functionality to it including UTF-8 identifiers; that part mainly so that scientific and technical symbols could be used as identifiers instead of having to shoehorn them into the BCX restricted ASCII 7 bit names.

The last version of MBC that I was able to get was from December 24 2018 downloaded from your website. If you have a newer version of MBC, I would appreciate a copy.

Doyle has been tinkering with MBC as well, adding some BCX GUI functions wrapped around GTK. He' s been working with an older version of MBC that doesn't have the functions etc. in separate files, a feature which I really like that is in your Christmas 2018 version of MBC.

See you later.

Robert

Hi, Robert.

No problem here with you forking MBC, go for it!

I have to go through my archives to see if I have a later version....

To everyone else, Thanks for the warm welcome!

AIR.

Hello,

Quote
MBC is a Basic to C/C++ translator, originally based on the BCX Windows translator by Kevin Diggins. It has successfully compiled using Clang++ and G++ on macOS/Linux 64bit OS's, and G++ on RaspberryPi as 32bit.
