TIME$ For A Corner Case!
« on: January 08, 2021, 08:10:56 PM »
Hey YOU! Stop DOOM-Scrolling and pay attention!

The BCX TIME$ Coordinated Universal Time parameter does not compensate for this Corner Case.

At noon, January 1 1937,  Netherlands Standard Time was exactly 19 minutes and 32.13 seconds ahead of UTC enforced by a law which existed from 1909-05-01 through 1937-06-30.  This time zone cannot be represented exactly using the the ISO time zone HH:MM format, The following timestamp uses the closest representable UTC offset for this Holland example.

1937-01-01T12:00:27.87+00:20

In fact, the BCX TIME$ Coordinated Universal Time parameter does not compensate for Any Case that is not Here and Now.

You have been warned!

Please disregard the TIME$ examples in the BCX Help file which display dates of June 29 1908. Obviously, the Here and Now memo was not received.

I feel just terrible about this and fear this may have, in some small way, contributed to all the turmoil being reported in the news.  A patch for TIME$ will be forthcoming ... maybe.  Okay, definitely not forthcoming.
